Youth

Brookdale Youth is a ministry for students in seventh grade through high school that creates opportunities for adolescents to experience formation through study of Scripture, worship and prayer, in fellowship with one another that encourages them towards maturity in their faith, through diverse adventure that will both challenge and equip them to spend their lives for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

We strive to model our ministry based upon Jesus’ own ministry, meaning that personal presence and shared life experience with students is valued above all other programming. Though we hope that students will have fun when we gather, our goal is not entertainment.  Interpersonal relationships are the vehicle through which transformation occurs in a person's life.  Therefore we partner with parents in teaching the Scriptures and leading godly lives that ultimately show teens the greatness of God and the love he has for us in Jesus.

Youth Group

High School and Middle School

SUNDAYS, 6:30-8:00PM

We have merged our middle and high school groups into one mega group, meeting Sunday evenings at the Student Ministry Center. We believe that by joining the groups together for games, worship and a lesson, followed by separate small group discussions, we will be able to create some space for busy families throughout the week, honor the social and emotional ties across both groups, and still meet students where they are developmentally.

Devofest

High School

SELECT FRIDAYS, 6:00-7:00AM

What is Devofest? It's what you get when you smash devotionals and breakfast together in an incredible mixture of joy.

With so many voices vying for the attention of our high school students, and given their busy schedules, what else could we do except to make them breakfast every other week or so before school, and help them to get their hearts settled in the love of God in Christ!

No cost to attend, held at the SMC, and open to all high school students.

Open Gym

Middle and High School

FIRST WEDNESDAYS 7:00-8:30PM

Have you been wanting to invite a friend to Youth Group, but weren't sure they'd be comfortable? Then I have good news for you: Open Gym! This monthly gathering will be an awesome space to play big games in the gym, smaller games in the Club Room, to sing along with live music, and to hear, maybe for the first time, how peace and life with God is open to anyone! The first Wednesday of each month, take the opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to hear and experience the Good News of Jesus! Meet at the SMC at 7p!

Sunday School

SUNDAYS 9:15-10:15AM

Every Sunday during the school year, youth are taught by staff, volunteers and parents. The focus is on Scripture and topics essential to growing in the Christian Faith. Youth are divided into Middle School and High School.

Middle School

Moral stories become a master plan. Comparison culture becomes a culture of grace. Good deeds become a holy mission. The Gospel Project helps students center their lives on the gospel, replacing the desire to be “good” with the empowering transformation that comes only from Jesus Christ.

Leader: Dan Bryant

High School

Want to deepen your relationship with God? Want to develop a better prayer life?  Want to be more attuned to the will of God? Join us this Fall as we dive into a series called "Praying with Paul".  We will learn techniques for building up the discipline of prayer and think about how to pray the types of prayers Paul prayed.  We look forward to seeing you!

Leader: Jay McGhee

Mission Trips

Our youth mission trips are adventures that prepare students to for their roles as ambassadors for Christ. Part of growing into mature brothers and sisters of Christ means that the students pursue Gospel-driven relationships with next door neighbors, or anywhere else God may call them. By offering diverse opportunities to practice their faith in places and contexts that they might not otherwise, we demonstrate the scope of God’s redemptive purposes throughout the world.

Each year is unique, but each summer we aim to take groups to serve during our Going Local week alongside numerous organizations within Saint Joseph, with YouthWorks and the Appalachian Service Project at several national sites. We also have partnerships with international mission organizations.
